the kats whiskers is a family run business currently based by the seaside in Fleetwood, Lancashire, although they travel far and wide to bring their fabulous handmade items to everyone

I'm kat and I was taught how to knit by my mum in 2008 and haven't looked back since. I have been well and truly bitten by the knitting bug! Originally a trained teacher, I now devote most of my time to making and selling my creations.

In my spare time I am thinking of new things to make and hunching over my sewing machine or sat in my comfy chair with my knitting needles trying to bring them to life.

My sister and mum (claire and anne) are the other creative geniuses behind the kats whiskers.

- In fact, they are the really talented ones, kat is just there to look pretty really but shhhhhh, don't tell her that! -

anne loves to knit but don't ask her to count how many stitches she has on her needles, it's a sore point!

claire spends her time knitting and creating wonderful jewellery in her spare time when she's not on stage - i just hope she remembers not to take her work on stage with her!

My mum and sister provide much needed moral support and creative ideas / designs and products, they truly are the kats whiskers!

I set up the kats whiskers on my birthday in 2009 as a way to sell my creations - I had made a lot....well and truly hooked on knitting! - initially I sold to friends and family but word spread and a company was born. We now sell at markets and crafts fairs across the country bringing new and wonderful handmade items to you and yours.
